Hello, This is my first time posting for help and upfront I'm mostly tech ignorant so apologies ahead of time. I just bought a 1TB Western Digital external hard drive and when I try to copy anything to it from my MacBook (2007), it says 'Elements cannot be modified.' Previously I had a 250GB WD Passport hard drive and had absolutely no problem copying files from my Mac and transferring to PC etc. I'm sure this requires a reformatting of some kind, but I have absolutely no idea what to do. If it's too complicated I'm probably better off just returning it and buying another Passport drive. Usually, both the formats are not compatible with each other, therefore when it comes to external hard drive, the user cannot use one storage drive on both the platforms. It is a journalled, relatively modern file system that supports POSIX permissions, and features at least limited automatic defragmenting of files.
